Traditional craft workshops

  • Natural dye experience

    Learn about natural dyes: this workshop shows people how to prepare material for dyeing and how to use plant dyes to dye a silk scarf which they can take away with them.

  • All about wool and felt

    This workshop explains the unique properties of wool that means you can create felt. It then goes through the process of felting by creating a felt pouch or bowl. Participants take away a felt pouch or bowl that they’ve made.

  • Dyeing with Woad for blue

    Learn about the traditional source of blue dye: woad. The workshop will go through how to set up a woad dye pot and participants will dye a silk scarf with woad.

Permaculture gardening workshops

  • Permaculture polyculture design

    This workshop explains how to design a permaculture polyculture design for your edible garden. It goes through how to mimic natural ecosystems through your choice of plants.

  • Saving water in your garden

    Learn about how to save and store water in your garden including how you calculate how much water your garden needs and how much you can store. The session will also go through automatic watering systems (soaker hose irrigation and wicking reservoirs) that reduce water loss by up to 80%.

    Soil is the key to life and this workshop will explain who lives in the soil and their symbiotic relationship with the plants we grow. It will outline techniques to support and benefit the creatures in the soil to maximise plant fertility.
